Description
English: Inscription ARE 465/1906 in the upper southern cave of Ovamalai Kallvettu at Mangulam in Madurai district, Tamil Nadu. It is the longest inscription at the site, and the earliest known Tamil-Brāhmī inscription, dated (on linguistic and paleographical grounds) around the 2nd century BCE. It records the gift by the Pandya king Neṭuñceḻiyaṉ of a monastery to the senior Jain monk Nanta-siri Kuvaṉ.
