1D-LSD

1D-LSD is a novel psychoactive substance (NPS) belonging to the lysergamide class of compounds, which are known for their psychedelic properties. 1D-LSD, chemically known as 1-propionyl-d-lysergic acid diethylamide, is a derivative of LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide), one of the most potent, mood-changing chemicals. It is an analog of LSD and a homolog of other lysergamide derivatives such as 1P-LSD and ALD-52. The introduction of 1D-LSD into the research chemicals market is part of an ongoing trend where slight modifications are made to the molecular structure of controlled substances in order to circumvent drug laws, creating legal alternatives for research and recreational use.

Chemistry[edit | edit source]

1D-LSD has a chemical structure similar to that of LSD, with the primary difference being the addition of a propionyl group to the nitrogen atom of the indole ring of LSD. This modification is believed to affect the compound's pharmacological properties, although the exact impact on its potency, efficacy, and safety profile is still under investigation. Like other lysergamides, 1D-LSD is believed to exert its effects primarily through interaction with serotonin receptors in the brain, particularly the 5-HT2A receptor.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

The pharmacological profile of 1D-LSD is not well-documented due to its recent emergence and the lack of comprehensive scientific studies. However, it is speculated that, like LSD, 1D-LSD acts as a partial agonist at serotonin receptors in the brain. This action is thought to be responsible for its psychedelic effects. The propionyl group added to the LSD molecule may affect its pharmacokinetics, potentially altering its absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion compared to LSD, but specific details remain unknown.

Effects[edit | edit source]

The subjective effects of 1D-LSD are reported to be similar to those of LSD and include alterations in thought, mood, and perception. Users may experience visual hallucinations, enhanced emotional experiences, and a distorted sense of time. The intensity and duration of these effects can vary based on the dose, individual physiology, and environmental factors. Due to the lack of research, the safety profile of 1D-LSD, including potential risks and long-term effects, is not well-understood.

Legal Status[edit | edit source]

The legal status of 1D-LSD varies by country and is subject to change as laws evolve in response to new substances entering the market. In some jurisdictions, 1D-LSD may fall under analog acts or psychoactive substance bans, making its manufacture, distribution, sale, and possession illegal or controlled. However, in other areas, it may remain legal for research and personal use due to its novel status and the lack of specific legislation.

Research and Potential Uses[edit | edit source]

Research on 1D-LSD is in its infancy, with most information coming from anecdotal reports and preliminary studies. As with other psychedelics, there is interest in exploring its potential therapeutic benefits, including for mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD. However, significant research is required to understand its efficacy, safety, and mechanism of action before any potential medical applications can be realized.
