42 Below

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

42 Below is a popular brand of vodka that originated in New Zealand. The brand was established in 1998 by Geoff Ross, a New Zealand-based entrepreneur. The name "42 Below" refers to the latitude of New Zealand, which is 42 degrees below the equator.

History[edit | edit source]

Geoff Ross founded 42 Below in 1998. The brand was initially produced in his garage in Wellington, New Zealand. Ross was inspired by the purity of New Zealand's natural resources and sought to create a vodka that reflected this.

In 2002, 42 Below was listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange and began to gain international recognition. The brand was sold to Bacardi in 2006.

Production[edit | edit source]

42 Below is made from wheat sourced from the Canterbury Plains in New Zealand. The vodka is distilled four times, then the spirit is washed in spring water, reducing the alcohol content to the desired level. The water used in the production process comes from a volcanic spring located 42 kilometres from the distillery.

Varieties[edit | edit source]

42 Below offers several varieties of vodka, including Pure, Passionfruit, Kiwifruit, and Manuka Honey. Each variety is infused with natural flavors sourced from local New Zealand ingredients.

Awards and Recognition[edit | edit source]

42 Below has received numerous awards for its quality and taste. It has been recognized at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the International Wine and Spirit Competition, and the Vodka Masters.
