A.1. Sauce is a brand of steak sauce produced by Kraft Heinz. Introduced in the United Kingdom in the 1830s, it was later introduced to the United States, where it is now a popular condiment. The sauce is a blend of fruit and spices, and is often used to enhance the flavor of meats, particularly beef.

A.1. Sauce was created by Henderson William Brand, a chef to King George IV of the United Kingdom. The story goes that the king declared the sauce to be "A.1." and the name stuck. The sauce was initially marketed as a condiment for "steaks, meats, game, and all sorts of table use."

In 1895, the brand was introduced to the United States by G.F. Heublein & Brothers. The brand was later acquired by R.J. Reynolds in 1982, and then by Kraft Foods in 1995.

The original recipe for A.1. Sauce includes vinegar, raisin paste, corn syrup, salt, crushed orange puree, dried garlic and onions, spice, celery seed, and other flavorings. The sauce is known for its tangy, sweet, and slightly spicy flavor.

Over the years, A.1. Sauce has introduced several varieties of the original sauce, including A.1. Thick & Hearty, A.1. Cracked Peppercorn, A.1. Sweet Hickory, and A.1. Bold & Spicy, which is infused with Tabasco sauce.
