Abim General Hospital

Abim General Hospital is a public hospital located in Abim District, in the Northern Region of Uganda. It is one of the main healthcare facilities in the region, providing a range of services to the local population.

The hospital is situated in the town of Abim, approximately 66 kilometers by road, northeast of Moroto, the largest town in the sub-region. This location lies approximately 450 kilometers, by road, northeast of Kampala, the capital and largest city of Uganda.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Abim General Hospital is a public hospital, funded by the Uganda Ministry of Health and general care in the hospital is free. It is one of the 13 general hospitals in Uganda that are designated as Referral Hospitals. The hospital provides general medical services, maternity care, surgery, and HIV/AIDS treatment, among other services.

The hospital offers a range of services including outpatient services, inpatient services, maternity services, surgical services, and HIV/AIDS care. It also provides immunization services and health education to the local community.

Challenges[edit | edit source]

Like many public hospitals in Uganda, Abim General Hospital faces a number of challenges. These include inadequate funding, a shortage of medical staff, and a lack of essential medical equipment.
