Association of Caribbean States (ACS) is an organization aimed at promoting consultation, cooperation, and concerted action among all the countries of the Caribbean. Its main focus is on trade, transport, sustainable tourism, and natural disasters in the Greater Caribbean region. The ACS encourages economic integration and cooperation among its member states and territories to enhance the region's economic competitiveness and to advance the economic and social well-being of the people of the Caribbean.

The Association of Caribbean States was established on July 24, 1994, in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, with the signing of the Convention establishing the ACS. The creation of the ACS was driven by the need to enhance cooperation among the countries in the Caribbean basin, which is characterized by a diverse mix of languages, cultures, and political systems.

The primary objectives of the ACS include:

  • Promoting economic integration among its member countries to create a unified economic space in the Caribbean.

Observer status is also granted to countries and organizations that wish to participate in the ACS's activities without full membership.

  • The Summit of Heads of State or Government, which is the supreme authority of the organization.
  • The Ministerial Council, responsible for policy direction and decision-making.

  • The Special Committee on Transport, which deals with issues related to regional transport.
  • The Special Committee on Disaster Risk Reduction, which focuses on mitigating the effects of natural disasters in the Caribbean.
