Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU), known colloquially as Ateneo, is a private Roman Catholic research university in the Philippines. It was established in 1859 by the Society of Jesus and is the third-oldest university in the Philippines. Ateneo offers elementary, secondary, undergraduate, and graduate programs in various fields such as the social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, management, education, and public health. The university is highly regarded for its academic programs, particularly in law, business administration, and medicine.

Ateneo de Manila University began as a small school in Intramuros, Manila, called Escuela Municipal de Manila.
