The Burhani Hospital is a not-for-profit hospital located in Garikhata, Saddar Town, Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. It was founded as a dispensary in 1913 for the treatment of influenza. Later, it was converted into a maternity home and renamed as Abdulhusain Marvi Maternity Home. The maternity home was managed by the Burhani Board from June 1, 1945, until January 2004. On May 27, 1978, the facility was upgraded and converted into a full-fledged general hospital. The Burhani Hospital Trust was established and re-registered on January 13, 2004.

History[edit | edit source]

The Burhani Hospital was originally established in 1913 as a dispensary to treat influenza. Over time, it evolved into a maternity home and was renamed as Abdulhusain Marvi Maternity Home. The maternity home was founded to provide healthcare services specifically for the Dawoodi Bohra community. In 1945, the management of the maternity home was handed over to the Burhani Board, which also managed another hospital known as the Saifee Hospital.

On May 27, 1978, the Burhani Board upgraded the facility and transformed it into a comprehensive general hospital. This marked the establishment of the Burhani Hospital Trust, which took over the management and operations of the hospital. The trust was officially re-registered on January 13, 2004.
