Dara Kass

Dara Kass is a prominent emergency medicine physician, medical educator, and advocate for gender equality in healthcare. She is the founder of FemInEM, a professional development resource for women in emergency medicine.

Dara Kass was born and raised in New York City. She completed her undergraduate studies at Binghamton University, where she majored in biology. She then attended the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, earning her MD degree. Following medical school, Kass completed her residency in emergency medicine at the Stony Brook University Hospital.

Career[edit | edit source]

After completing her residency, Kass joined the faculty of the Columbia University Medical Center as an emergency medicine physician. In addition to her clinical work, she has been actively involved in medical education and advocacy.

In 2015, Kass founded FemInEM, an organization dedicated to the professional development and advancement of women in emergency medicine. The organization provides resources such as networking opportunities, mentorship, and career advice.

Kass is also a vocal advocate for gender equality in healthcare, frequently speaking on issues such as gender disparities in pay and leadership opportunities, as well as the unique challenges faced by women in medicine.

Kass's work has been recognized by several organizations. She has received awards for her contributions to medical education and her advocacy work, including the American College of Emergency Physicians' Award for Outstanding Contribution in Education.
