DiGiorno

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

DiGiorno is a brand of frozen pizza sold in the United States, owned by Nestlé. In Canada, Nestlé markets a largely identical line of pizzas under the Delissio brand.

History[edit | edit source]

DiGiorno was launched nationally in 1996 by Kraft Foods, and has been marketed as a quick and convenient alternative to delivery pizza. The brand's slogan, "It's not delivery. It's DiGiorno/Delissio," emphasizes this selling point. In 2010, Kraft sold DiGiorno to Nestlé.

Products[edit | edit source]

DiGiorno produces over 20 varieties of pizza, including pepperoni, cheese, and a range of specialty pizzas. The brand also offers pizza toppings, including a "design a pizza" kit that allows consumers to customize their pizzas with a variety of ingredients. In addition to pizzas, DiGiorno products include breadsticks, chicken wings, and cookies, all designed to be baked at home.

Marketing[edit | edit source]

DiGiorno's marketing strategies have included television commercials, online advertising, and social media campaigns. The brand has also sponsored sports events, such as the Super Bowl, and has partnered with celebrities for promotional campaigns.

Reception[edit | edit source]

DiGiorno pizzas have received mixed reviews, with some consumers praising their convenience and taste, and others criticizing their high calorie and sodium content. The brand has also faced criticism for its advertising strategies, particularly its use of social media.
