Glenn Lee Beck (born February 10, 1964) is an American conservative political commentator, radio host, television producer, and author. He is the founder of Blaze Media, a multi-platform news and entertainment network available on television, radio, and the internet.

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Glenn Beck was born in Everett, Washington, and raised in Mount Vernon, Washington. He is the son of Mary Clara (née Janssen) and William Beck. After his mother's death and a subsequent move to Bellingham, Washington, Beck attended Sehome High School.

Radio[edit | edit source]

Beck began his career in radio at the age of 13 in Mount Vernon, working at a local AM radio station. He later moved to larger markets, including Salt Lake City, Washington, D.C., and New Haven, Connecticut. In 2000, Beck launched The Glenn Beck Program on WFLA in Tampa, Florida. The show quickly gained popularity and was syndicated nationally by Premiere Radio Networks.

Television[edit | edit source]

In 2006, Beck joined CNN Headline News (now HLN), where he hosted a nightly news commentary show. In 2009, he moved to Fox News Channel, where he hosted Glenn Beck, a daily program that combined political commentary, interviews, and entertainment. Beck left Fox News in 2011 to focus on his own media ventures.

Blaze Media[edit | edit source]

In 2011, Beck founded Blaze Media, originally known as TheBlaze. The network features a variety of conservative-leaning news and opinion shows. Blaze Media has grown to include a television network, a radio network, and a digital platform.

Political Views[edit | edit source]

Beck is known for his conservative and libertarian views. He has been a vocal critic of progressivism, socialism, and big government. Beck has also been involved in various political movements, including the Tea Party movement.

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Beck has been married twice and has four children. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has spoken publicly about his faith and its influence on his life and career.
