Heartbeat International[edit | edit source]

Heartbeat International is a non-profit organization that provides support to pregnancy resource centers worldwide. It was founded in 1971 and is based in Columbus, Ohio, United States. The organization's mission is to "reach and rescue as many lives as possible, around the world, through an effective network of life-affirming pregnancy help, to renew communities for life."

History[edit | edit source]

Heartbeat International was established in 1971 by Dr. John Hillabrand, a gynecologist from Columbus, Ohio. He was inspired to start the organization after witnessing the negative effects of abortion on women's physical and emotional health. The organization started with just two pregnancy centers and has since grown to support over 2,800 centers in more than 60 countries.

Services[edit | edit source]

Heartbeat International provides a variety of services to pregnancy resource centers, including training, resources, and support. They offer an annual conference, online training courses, and a 24-hour helpline called Option Line. The organization also provides resources such as educational materials, legal advice, and networking opportunities.

Controversies[edit | edit source]

Heartbeat International has been criticized by pro-choice advocates for its stance on abortion and for allegedly providing misleading information to women. The organization has also been accused of using deceptive tactics to discourage women from seeking abortions.
