Huslia

Huslia is a city located in the Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area of the U.S. state of Alaska. As of the 2010 Census, the population of the city was 293. Huslia is predominantly inhabited by the Koyukon Athabascans, a group of Alaska Natives known for their subsistence lifestyle and rich cultural traditions.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Huslia is located at 65°42′2″N 156°23′45″W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 17.2 square miles, of which, 16.4 square miles of it is land and 0.7 square miles of it is water.

Healthcare[edit | edit source]

Huslia is served by the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation, which provides comprehensive healthcare services to residents of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta. The nearest hospital is the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Regional Hospital in Bethel, approximately 420 miles away.

Education[edit | edit source]

The Koyukuk School District operates the Jimmy Huntington School in Huslia. The school offers education from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. The school also offers a bilingual program in the Koyukon language.

Transportation[edit | edit source]

Huslia is not connected to any other communities by road. The primary means of transportation are by air, with service provided by the Huslia Airport, and by river, using the Koyukuk River.
