Intranet

Intranet is a private network used by organizations to securely share company information and computing resources among their employees. Unlike the Internet, which is a global network, an intranet is restricted to an organization and its authorized users. Intranets are used to facilitate communication, collaboration, and document management within an organization. They often include web pages, applications, and databases that are accessible only to members of the organization.

An intranet uses the same technologies as the Internet, such as TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) and HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol), but it is shielded from the outside world by firewalls that control access.
