List of cities in Minnesota is a comprehensive catalog of the incorporated cities in the U.S. state of Minnesota. As of 2021, Minnesota has 853 incorporated cities, spread across 87 counties. The cities range in size from the largest, Minneapolis, with a population of over 420,000, to the smallest, Funkley, with a population of just 5.

Classification of cities in Minnesota[edit | edit source]

In Minnesota, cities are classified by the state law based on their population. They are categorized into four classes:

  • First Class: Cities with a population of 100,000 or more. Currently, only three cities fall into this category: Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and Rochester.
  • Second Class: Cities with a population between 20,000 and 100,000.
  • Third Class: Cities with a population between 10,000 and 20,000.
  • Fourth Class: Cities with a population of less than 10,000.
