Marie Joséphine of Savoy

Marie Joséphine of Savoy (1753–1810) was a member of the House of Savoy and the Countess of Provence by marriage. She was born on 2 September 1753 in Turin, Italy, as the daughter of Victor Amadeus III of Sardinia and Maria Antonia Ferdinanda of Spain.

Marie Joséphine married Louis Stanislas, Count of Provence, who later became King Louis XVIII of France, in 1771. The couple had no children, which led to political implications during the French Revolution.

During the Revolution, Marie Joséphine and her husband fled France and lived in exile in various European countries. They returned to France after the fall of Napoleon Bonaparte and the restoration of the Bourbon monarchy.

Marie Joséphine was known for her elegance and charm, and she played a role in the Bourbon restoration. She supported her husband's claim to the French throne and was involved in court intrigues.

After Louis XVIII's death in 1824, Marie Joséphine continued to be active in royal circles. She died on 13 November 1810 in Hartwell House, England.

Marie Joséphine of Savoy was a significant figure in European royal history, known for her influence during turbulent times in France.
