Marvel Studios

The studio is known for producing the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films, which are based on characters that appear in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.

Marvel Studios was originally known as Marvel Films from 1993 to 1996. The studio was founded by Avi Arad, Toy Biz co-owner, and Marvel Entertainment Group. In 2005, Marvel Studios began to independently produce its own films, starting with Iron Man in 2008, which was distributed by Paramount Pictures. In 2009, The Walt Disney Company acquired Marvel Entertainment for approximately $4 billion.
Marvel Cinematic Universe[edit | edit source]
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a media franchise and shared universe centered on a series of superhero films and television series. The franchise is produced by Marvel Studios and based on characters that appear in Marvel Comics publications. The MCU is divided into phases, with each phase consisting of a series of interconnected films and television series.

Phase One of the MCU includes the following films:
