Meir Bialer


Meir Bialer is a renowned pharmacologist and professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is best known for his significant contributions to the field of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) and has been instrumental in the development of several new AEDs.

Bialer was born and raised in Israel. He completed his BSc and MSc degrees in Pharmacy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He then went on to earn his PhD in Pharmacology from the same university.

After completing his PhD, Bialer joined the faculty of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He has held various positions within the university, including serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. His research primarily focuses on the development of new AEDs, with a particular emphasis on improving drug delivery systems and reducing side effects.

Bialer's work has led to the development of several new AEDs, including valproic acid derivatives and carbamazepine analogs. His research has also contributed to a better understanding of the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of AEDs, which has helped to improve the treatment of epilepsy.
