Pralmorelin hydrochloride

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Pralmorelin Hydrochloride (also known as GHRP-2) is a synthetic ghrelin analogue. It is a growth hormone releasing peptide that exhibits potent growth hormone releasing activity.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

Pralmorelin Hydrochloride stimulates the pituitary gland to increase the production of growth hormone. It acts on the ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR) and mimics the ghrelin's ability to stimulate the release of growth hormone from the pituitary gland.

Clinical Use[edit | edit source]

Pralmorelin Hydrochloride is used in the diagnosis of growth hormone deficiency and in the treatment of short stature due to insufficient secretion of growth hormone. It is also used in research studies to understand the role of growth hormone in various physiological processes.

Side Effects[edit | edit source]

Common side effects of Pralmorelin Hydrochloride include nausea, vomiting, flushing, sweating, somnolence, and hypoglycemia. In rare cases, it can cause allergic reactions.
