Punsch-roll or dammsugare (meaning vacuum cleaner) is a type of Swedish pastry that is also known as arraksrulle. The pastry is flavored with Punsch liqueur, which gives it its distinctive taste.

History[edit | edit source]

The Punsch-roll is a traditional Swedish pastry that dates back to the early 20th century. It was originally made with leftover cake crumbs and Punsch liqueur, a popular Swedish alcoholic beverage.

Preparation[edit | edit source]

To prepare a Punsch-roll, cookie crumbs are mixed with butter and cocoa to form a dough. This dough is then shaped into a cylinder and dipped in Punsch liqueur. The cylinder is then coated in green marzipan and both ends are dipped in chocolate.

Cultural Significance[edit | edit source]

The Punsch-roll is a popular dessert in Sweden and is often served at Fika, a traditional Swedish coffee break. It is also a common sight at Swedish bakeries and pastry shops.
