RTI-32
RTI-32 is a stimulant drug from the phenyltropane family. It is a potent and selective dopamine reuptake inhibitor with a Ki of 28.9nM, making it around one third the potency of cocaine. However, RTI-32 is not particularly selective, and also inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin to a similar extent.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
RTI-32 is a tropane derivative and as such is related to compounds such as cocaine and WIN 35428. It is around one third the potency of cocaine as a dopamine reuptake inhibitor, but has similar potency as an inhibitor of norepinephrine and serotonin reuptake.
Chemistry[edit | edit source]
RTI-32 is a phenyltropane based compound and is structurally similar to cocaine. It is made up of a tropane ring with a phenyl group attached at R3, and a methyl group attached at R2. The difference between RTI-32 and cocaine lies in the substituent at the R1 position. In cocaine this is a methyl ester group, but in RTI-32 it is a benzyl group.
