Stipe Miocic

Stipe Miocic (Croatian: Stipe Miočić; born August 19, 1982) is an American professional mixed martial artist and firefighter-paramedic of Croatian descent. He is known for competing in the Heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he has won the UFC Heavyweight Championship multiple times. Miocic holds the record for the most consecutive heavyweight title defenses in UFC history.

Early Life

Stipe Miocic was born and raised in Euclid, Ohio, to Croatian immigrant parents. From a young age, Miocic was involved in sports, excelling in baseball, wrestling, and football during his high school years. He attended Trevecca Nazarene University and later transferred to Cleveland State University, where he competed in NCAA Division I wrestling. Miocic also played baseball during his college years but eventually focused on a career in mixed martial arts (MMA).

Mixed Martial Arts Career

Miocic made his professional MMA debut in 2010, quickly making a name for himself in the heavyweight division with his powerful striking and wrestling skills. He signed with the UFC in 2011 and rose through the ranks, facing and defeating several top contenders.

UFC Heavyweight Champion

Miocic won the UFC Heavyweight Championship for the first time in May 2016, defeating Fabricio Werdum at UFC 198 with a knockout punch in the first round. He successfully defended his title three times, setting a record for the most consecutive heavyweight title defenses in UFC history. Miocic's notable title defenses include victories over Alistair Overeem, Junior dos Santos, and Francis Ngannou.
