TRX System

TRX System is a form of suspension training that uses body weight exercises to develop strength, balance, flexibility, and core stability simultaneously. It requires the use of the TRX Suspension Trainer, a performance training tool that leverages gravity and the user's body weight to complete hundreds of exercises.

The TRX System was created by former Navy SEAL Squadron Commander Randy Hetrick while deployed in Southeast Asia. Hetrick developed the first version of the TRX using a jiu-jitsu belt and parachute webbing, aiming to maintain his and his team's physical fitness in an environment with no traditional fitness equipment. The concept evolved into the TRX Suspension Trainer, which has since become popular worldwide in gyms, homes, and with personal trainers.

The TRX Suspension Trainer consists of a set of nylon straps with handles and foot cradles, which can be anchored to a secure point above the ground. The system is designed for portability and can be set up anywhere, making it a versatile tool for exercises.

Principles of Training[edit | edit source]

TRX training is based on seven foundational movements: push, pull, plank, rotate, hinge, lunge, and squat. These movements engage the whole body, with a particular focus on the core, which is defined as the muscles from the shoulders to the pelvis. The intensity of the exercises can be adjusted by changing the body's angle relative to the ground or by modifying the base of support.
