Terra Madre is a global network of food communities, initiated by the Slow Food movement, aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture, fishing, and breeding with the goal of preserving local food cultures and traditions. The network brings together food producers, fishers, breeders, chefs, academics, young people, NGOs, and representatives of local communities from around the world to foster a food system that is good, clean, and fair for all.

The concept of Terra Madre was introduced by Slow Food, an organization founded in 1986 by Carlo Petrini in Italy, as a response to the increasing dominance of fast food and globalized food production systems. The first Terra Madre gathering took place in 2004 in Turin, Italy, with the aim of connecting food communities globally to share experiences and solutions for food sustainability. Since then, Terra Madre has evolved into a biennial event that attracts thousands of delegates from over 160 countries.
