Vibroejaculation

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Vibroejaculation is a procedure used to obtain semen samples from sexually mature males who are unable to ejaculate by normal means. This technique is often used in the field of reproductive medicine and andrology to assist with artificial insemination and other fertility treatments.

Procedure[edit | edit source]

Vibroejaculation involves the use of a specially designed vibratory stimulation device that is applied to the underside of the penis. The device produces high-frequency vibrations that stimulate the nerves in the penis, leading to ejaculation. The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia to minimize discomfort.

Applications[edit | edit source]

Vibroejaculation is primarily used in cases where a man is unable to ejaculate through normal sexual activity or masturbation. This can occur due to a variety of medical conditions, including spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, and certain types of surgery. It is also used in cases where a man has a psychological aversion to masturbation.

Benefits and Risks[edit | edit source]

The main benefit of vibroejaculation is that it allows for the collection of semen in cases where it would otherwise be impossible. This can be crucial for couples trying to conceive through artificial insemination or in vitro fertilization (IVF).

However, there are also risks associated with the procedure. These include potential injury to the penis from the vibratory device, as well as the possibility of inducing a autonomic dysreflexia, a potentially life-threatening condition in men with spinal cord injuries.
