Vitex negundo, commonly known as the Chinese chaste tree, five-leaved chaste tree, or horseshoe vitex, is a large shrub or small tree in the family Lamiaceae. Vitex negundo is a deciduous shrub or small tree that can grow up to 5 meters in height. The leaves are compound, with five leaflets arranged in a palmate fashion, giving it the name "five-leaved chaste tree." The leaflets are lanceolate, with a serrated margin, and are covered with fine hairs. The flowers are small, blue to purple, and are arranged in terminal panicles. The fruit is a small, black drupe.

Vitex negundo is found in a variety of habitats, including riverbanks, roadsides, and open areas. It thrives in well-drained soils and can tolerate a range of climatic conditions. The plant is widely distributed across India, China, Philippines, and other parts of Southeast Asia.
