Mountain Home is a city located in the state of Idaho, United States. It is the county seat of Elmore County and has a population of approximately 14,206 as of the 2020 census. The city is situated in the western part of the state, nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

The area where Mountain Home is now located was originally inhabited by Native American tribes, including the Shoshone and Bannock tribes. The first European settlers arrived in the mid-1800s, attracted by the fertile land and abundant natural resources. The city was officially established in 1864 and named after the nearby Mountain Home Creek.
