The National Broadcasting Company (NBC) is an American English-language commercial broadcast television network and radio network. It is the flagship property of the NBC Entertainment division of NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of Comcast. The network is headquartered at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, with additional major offices near Los Angeles (at 10 Universal City Plaza) and in Chicago (at the NBC Tower).

NBC was founded in 1926 by David Sarnoff and was the first major broadcast network in the United States. It initially began as a radio network before expanding into television. The network's first broadcast was on November 15, 1926, and it quickly became a dominant force in American broadcasting.
Early Years[edit | edit source]
In its early years, NBC operated two radio networks, the NBC Red Network and the NBC Blue Network. The Blue Network was sold in 1943 and became the ABC network. NBC continued to grow and innovate, becoming a leader in radio and later television broadcasting.

NBC began regular television broadcasts in 1939, and it was the first network to broadcast in color in 1954.
