New York University (NYU) is a private research university based in New York City. Founded in 1831, NYU is one of the largest private universities in the United States.

NYU was established by a group of prominent New Yorkers led by then-Secretary of the Treasury Albert Gallatin. The university was founded with the intention of providing a "rational and practical education fitting for all and graciously open to all."
Campus[edit | edit source]
NYU's main campus is located in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan. The university also has campuses in Brooklyn, Abu Dhabi, and Shanghai, as well as academic centers in cities around the world.
Academics[edit | edit source]
NYU is organized into several schools and colleges, including the College of Arts and Science, the Tandon School of Engineering, the Stern School of Business, the School of Law, the School of Medicine, and the Tisch School of the Arts. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs.
