Nirali N. Shah

Nirali N. Shah is a prominent American oncologist and hematologist specializing in pediatric oncology. She is currently serving as the Chief of the Pediatric Oncology Branch at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Shah was born and raised in the United States. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Chicago, where she developed an interest in biology and medicine. She then pursued her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine.

Career[edit | edit source]

After completing her medical degree, Shah joined the National Cancer Institute (NCI) as a fellow in Pediatric Oncology. She quickly rose through the ranks and was appointed as the Chief of the Pediatric Oncology Branch in 2019. In her role, she oversees the development and implementation of clinical trials for children and young adults with cancer and blood disorders.

Shah's research primarily focuses on developing novel therapies for children with high-risk leukemias and lymphomas. She is known for her work on immunotherapy and cell therapy, particularly in the use of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy.

Shah's contributions to pediatric oncology have been recognized with several awards, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Young Investigator Award and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Outstanding Investigator Award for Pediatric Oncology.
