SEGA was founded by Martin Bromley and Richard Stewart as Nihon Goraku Bussan on June 3, 1960; shortly after, they acquired Rosen Enterprises to become SEGA Enterprises, Ltd. The name SEGA is a portmanteau of the first two letters of the words "Service Games".
