WNK1 (With No Lysine (K) 1) is a protein encoded by the WNK1 gene in humans. This protein is a member of the WNK family of serine/threonine protein kinases, which are involved in the regulation of ion transport and cell signaling pathways.

Function

WNK1 plays a crucial role in the regulation of blood pressure and electrolyte homeostasis. It is involved in the modulation of sodium and potassium transport in the kidneys, particularly through its effects on the sodium-chloride symporter (NCC) and the sodium-potassium-chloride cotransporter (NKCC).
