Hamilton is a city located in the province of Ontario in Canada. It is the third largest city in Ontario and the ninth largest in Canada. Hamilton is known for its diverse culture and rich history.

Hamilton was incorporated as a city in 1846. It was named after George Hamilton, a settler who established a homestead in the area in the early 19th century. The city grew rapidly during the 19th and 20th centuries, largely due to its location on the western end of the Niagara Peninsula and its proximity to the United States border.

Hamilton is located on the western end of the Niagara Peninsula and is bordered by Lake Ontario to the north, the Niagara Escarpment to the south, the city of Burlington to the east, and the city of Brantford to the west.
