Health belief model
Health belief model is a theory stating that the likelihood of taking a preventive health action will be determined by one's perceived susceptibility.
Perceived susceptibility[edit | edit source]
The individual's perception about his or her own likelihood of contracting a condition.
Perceived severity[edit | edit source]
The seriousness the individual would assign to such a condition were it to happen
Perceived benefits[edit | edit source]
The perceived benefits of the proposed action which is the individual=s perception about the likelihood that a given action would succeed in reducing or eliminating harm);
Perceived barriers[edit | edit source]
Perceived barriers are the factors that would interfere with the individuals taking the desired action
