Ilosone

Ilosone is a brand name for the antibiotic drug erythromycin. It is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections, skin infections, and sexually transmitted diseases.

Uses[edit | edit source]

Ilosone is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It is a macrolide-type antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats or prevents only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or misuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.

Side Effects[edit | edit source]

Side effects that may occur while taking this medication includes upset stomach, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach cramps, mild skin rash, and stomach upset. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Precautions[edit | edit source]

Before taking Ilosone, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other macrolide antibiotics (such as azithromycin, clarithromycin); or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
