Liquid biopsy

Liquid biopsy is a non-invasive medical procedure that involves the sampling and analysis of non-solid biological tissue, primarily blood. It is used to detect disease in the body such as cancer, by examining the DNA and RNA fragments and other substances in the blood.

Procedure

A healthcare professional will draw blood from a vein in your arm, usually from the inside of your elbow or the back of your hand. The site is cleaned with antiseptic, and an elastic band is placed around your upper arm to apply pressure and cause the vein to swell with blood. A needle is then inserted into a vein and blood is collected in a vial or syringe.

Applications
