Minipress

Minipress is a medication primarily used to treat high blood pressure. It is also used to treat symptoms of an enlarged prostate and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The active ingredient in Minipress is prazosin, an alpha blocker that works by relaxing the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily.

Uses

Minipress is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), which helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. It is also used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a condition in which the prostate gland becomes enlarged, causing problems with urination. Additionally, Minipress is used to treat PTSD, specifically for its ability to reduce nightmares.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Minipress include dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting, especially when standing up from a sitting or lying position. Other side effects may include headache, drowsiness, lack of energy, weakness, palpitations, and nausea. If any of these effects persist or worsen, the patient should inform their doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Precautions

Before taking Minipress, patients should inform their doctor or pharmacist if they are allergic to it, or to other alpha blockers (such as doxazosin, terazosin), or if they have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.

Interactions

Overdose
