Morning

The morning is the period of time from sunrise to noon. There are no exact times for when morning begins because it can vary according to one's lifestyle and the hours of daylight at each time of year. However, morning strictly ends at noon, which is when afternoon starts. Morning is the period of time typically used for sleep, rest, activity and work in most cultures.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

The name comes from the Middle English word morwening, which was formed from morn (meaning morning) + -ing (a time indicator). This was originally used to refer to the sunrise, and was first used in the 13th century.

Cultural variations[edit | edit source]

In many cultures, mornings are often associated with rebirth and new beginnings. Some cultures have specific rituals, practices, or cultural events that take place in the morning. For example, in some Buddhist cultures, monks will go on a morning alms round to collect food for the day.

Health effects[edit | edit source]

There is some evidence that morning light can have positive health effects. Exposure to light in the morning can help set the body's circadian rhythm, which can improve sleep and overall health.
