A Nursing school is a type of educational institution, or part thereof, providing education and training to become a fully qualified nurse. The nature of nursing education and nursing qualifications varies considerably across the world.

Since the postwar period, nurse education has undergone a process of diversification towards advanced and specialized credentials, and many of the traditional regulations and provider roles are changing.
Types of Nursing Schools[edit | edit source]
Nursing schools can be categorized into three types: Hospital-based nursing schools, University-based nursing schools, and Community-based nursing schools.
Hospital-based Nursing Schools[edit | edit source]
Hospital-based nursing schools, which are more traditional and older, are connected to a hospital and are usually diploma programs.
University-based Nursing Schools[edit | edit source]
University-based nursing schools offer undergraduate and graduate degrees and are institutions of higher learning.
Community-based Nursing Schools[edit | edit source]
Community-based nursing schools are usually part of a community college and offer an Associate of Science in Nursing.
Nursing Degrees[edit | edit source]
Nursing schools offer a variety of degrees including Associate of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing, and Doctor of Nursing Practice.
