Relafen

Relafen (also known as nabumetone) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat pain or inflammation caused by arthritis. It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.

Pharmacology

Nabumetone works by reducing the levels of prostaglandins, chemicals that cells produce in response to injury. Prostaglandins cause pain and swelling, or inflammation. They are released into the blood stream and can also affect other parts of the body such as the eyes.

Relafen is used to treat pain or inflammation caused by arthritis. It may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Side effects

Common side effects of Relafen include upset stomach, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, dizziness, headache, or skin itching or rash. Serious side effects may include heart attack or stroke, especially if you use it long term.

Interactions

Relafen can interact with other drugs such as aspirin, warfarin, and lithium. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs.
