Soylent (meal replacement)

Soylent is a brand of meal replacement products that are sold in the United States, as well as in other countries. The name Soylent is a reference to the 1973 film Soylent Green, which was based on the 1966 science fiction novel Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison.

History[edit | edit source]

Soylent was introduced in 2014 by Rosa Labs, a Los Angeles-based company. The creator of Soylent, Rob Rhinehart, developed the formula for the product as a self-experiment in nutrition.

Products[edit | edit source]

Soylent's product line includes Soylent Drink, a ready-to-drink meal in a bottle, and Soylent Powder, which the consumer mixes with water. The company also produces Soylent Squared, a 100-calorie mini meal bar.

Nutrition[edit | edit source]

Soylent products are designed to provide all the elements of a healthy diet, without requiring traditional food. They contain protein, carbohydrates, lipids, and micronutrients.

Reception[edit | edit source]

Soylent has been both praised for its convenience and criticized for its taste and texture. Some dietitians have expressed concern about the product's reliance on vitamin and mineral supplements, rather than whole foods.
