Vaginal bleeding
Bleeding from vagina can be due to many reasons including menstruation, or other medical conditions such as uterine fibroids.
Types[edit | edit source]
Vaginal bleeding can be normal as in menstrual bleeding or abnormal.
Causes[edit | edit source]
- Uterine fibroids or polyps
- Hormone problems
- Birth control pills and hormone replacement therapy
- Cancer of the cervix, ovaries, uterus or vagina
- Thyroid problems
- Bleeding during pregnancy can have several different causes including placental abruption.
Diagnosis[edit | edit source]
Pelvic exams, blood tests, imaging tests, and other procedures can help your health care provider diagnose the problem.
Treatment[edit | edit source]
Treatment depends on the cause and may include medications, hormonal treatment, and or surgery.
