| Description | Frauenkirche in Munich photographed on silver chloride paper by Carl August von Steinheil (1801 - 1870) and Franz von Kobell (1803 - 1882).
The clock hands, showing around 12 o'clock, are visible, indicating a shorter exposure time. Dates are variously given as Autumn 1838 or early 1839. It is one of the earliest photographs taken in Germany. Steinheil and Kobell claimed that they made their first photographs before anyone had published anything on photography. Throughout April and mid-1839, Steinheil and Kobell presented their photographs on silver chloride paper of Munich. |
