| Description | Chart showing heat content of ocean, top 2000m and top 700m, since 1957
Source for Version 7: Top 700 meters: Lindsey, Rebecca; Dahlman, Luann. Climate Change: Ocean Heat Content. climate.gov. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) (6 September 2023). Archived from the original on 29 October 2023. ● Top 2000 meters: Ocean Warming / Latest Measurement: December 2022 / 345 (± 2) zettajoules since 1955. NASA.gov. National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Archived from the original on 20 October 2023. Five-year averaging is native to the NASA source for 2000m. Uploader performed 5-year averaging of the NOAA source's annual values, so that traces would be consistent. Technical note: most SVG code for Version 7 was automatically generated by the "Line charts" spreadsheet linked at User:RCraig09/Excel to XML for SVG. Additions and adjustments were made in a text editor.
