Description Gwinnett Technical College Culinary Arts Program Director Kerri Crean, holds one of today’s dining room entrees, in Lawrenceville, GA, on Thursday, March 19, 2015. Students receive practical restaurant experience by learning every aspect of the on-campus dining room. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, and Labor Secretary Tom Perez, tomorrow announces the recipients of $200 million in competitive awards to fund and evaluate pilot projects in 10 states to help Supplemental Nutrition and Assistance Program (SNAP) participants enter careers and work toward self-sufficiency. Georgia is one of several other states that have been competitively selected to test innovative ways to help the unemployed or underemployed transition off of government food assistance programs and compete for positions in today’s job market. The pilot projects are provided by the 2014 Farm Bill to help participants gain and retain employment that leads to self-sufficiency. USDA photo by Lance Cheung.
