Summary[edit]

Summary
Description Probably the commonest lappet moth species in the Western Cape of South Africa. All the shortish bristles are urticating, especially the transverse orange and dark maroon bands that the caterpillar displays across the thorax, but the black areas down the back also are to be avoided. People unfamiliar with the insect are better off not handling it.
