| Description | Micrograph of a keratocystic odontogenic tumour (KCOT), previously called odontogenic keratocyst. H&E stain.
Histology: Stratified squamous epithelium with keratinization. Lack of rete ridges (typical of stratified squamous epithelium elsewhere). Often have often have an artefactual separation from their basement membrane. Parakeratosis (keratinized cells with nuclei) -- key feature.
