Editorial notes: Square bracketed text on first line is present in the original. "Shangae" is a bastardisation of Shanghai, referring to Shanghai Chickens, which were later called Cochin-China Fowl and then simply Cochin [1] [2]. Why a distinction was made in this case is unclear to Papa Lima Whiskey.
