D23: The Official Disney Fan Club

D23: The Official Disney Fan Club is the official fan club for The Walt Disney Company. Founded in 2009, D23 offers fans a unique connection to the magic of Disney through exclusive events, publications, and merchandise. The name "D23" refers to 1923, the year Walt Disney founded the company.

D23 was announced on March 10, 2009, by Robert Iger, then CEO of The Walt Disney Company. The fan club was created to celebrate the legacy of Disney and to provide fans with exclusive content and experiences. The inaugural D23 Expo was held in September 2009 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.

Membership[edit | edit source]

D23 offers two levels of membership: General and Gold. General membership is free and provides access to select content on the D23 website, while Gold membership includes additional benefits such as a subscription to the quarterly publication Disney twenty-three, access to exclusive events, and special merchandise.

D23 Expo[edit | edit source]

The D23 Expo is a biennial event that serves as the ultimate Disney fan experience. Held at the Anaheim Convention Center, the Expo features presentations from various Disney divisions, including Walt Disney Studios, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, Disney Consumer Products, and Disney Interactive. Attendees can enjoy sneak peeks of upcoming films, television shows, and theme park attractions, as well as meet Disney legends and celebrities.

D23 publishes a quarterly magazine called Disney twenty-three, which features in-depth articles, interviews, and behind-the-scenes looks at Disney projects. The magazine is available exclusively to Gold members.

Events[edit | edit source]

In addition to the D23 Expo, the fan club hosts various events throughout the year, including screenings, tours, and special experiences at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. These events provide members with unique opportunities to engage with Disney history and culture.

Merchandise[edit | edit source]

D23 offers exclusive merchandise to its members, including limited-edition collectibles, apparel, and accessories. These items are often themed around significant Disney anniversaries and milestones.
