Dr Pepper Snapple Group

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Dr Pepper Snapple Group was an American multinational soft drink company based in Plano, Texas. Before being acquired and merged into Keurig Dr Pepper in 2018, it was a standalone company producing a wide range of beverages.

History[edit | edit source]

Founded as a drink making and vending business in the late 1800s, the modern day Dr Pepper Snapple Group emerged from a series of mergers and acquisitions over the decades. The group's namesake brands, Dr Pepper and Snapple, both have storied histories spanning over a century.

Products[edit | edit source]

The Dr Pepper Snapple Group had a vast portfolio of beverages, including:

  • Dr Pepper: A popular carbonated soft drink with a unique flavor.
  • Snapple: Known for its fruit-flavored teas and juices.
  • 7 Up: A lemon-lime flavored soda.
  • A&W Root Beer: A traditional root beer brand.
  • Sunkist: Orange-flavored soda.
  • Canada Dry: Best known for its ginger ale.

And many others, including regional beverages and niche products.

Acquisition and Merger[edit | edit source]

In 2018, Keurig Green Mountain acquired Dr Pepper Snapple Group, creating the new company Keurig Dr Pepper. This merger brought together hot and cold beverages under a single umbrella, forming one of North America's leading drink companies.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

While Dr Pepper Snapple Group, as a standalone entity, ceased to exist post the 2018 merger, its brands continue to be a significant part of the beverage landscape under the Keurig Dr Pepper banner.
